Hosting – London Street Names: an lllustrated Guide
Saturday June 13th 2-4pm Central Library 3rd Floor
The Friends of the Library invite you to celebrate the launch of a new edition of London Street Names: an Illustrated Guide. Edited by Michael Baker and Hilary Bates Neary, this engaging book adds 30 additional streets to the over 100 explored in the 2003 edition. Fifty-eight local authors explore the stories and people behind how streets are named and offer a fascinating window into our city’s past as we celebrate London’s bicentennial year in 2026.
Friends of the London Public Library hosts Speaking With Friends at venues adjacent to the London Central Public Library in Citi Plaza for our fundraising Lectures on Literature and Literacy series. Authors reading and speaking at the event over the years have included Emma Donoghue, Peter Robinson, Maureen Jennings, Eleanor Wachtel and Bill Richardson. A reception, book sale and signing are also part of the evening. Admission to Speaking With Friends is free although donations are accepted to support Library programs.
